Using XRBG
XRB DAO mints XRBG tokens to maintain a 3-to-1 ratio of physical gold to tokens, ensuring three grams of physical gold are available to redeem every token issued. After redemption of an XRBG token on request of a token holder, an XRBG token is burned.
At redemption XRBG token holders can convert XRBG tokens into stablecoins or physical gold and vice versa. Holders of more than 1,000 XRBG tokens can redeem them starting with a 1kg physical gold bar, and up to 12.5kg bars. XRB DAO charges tiered shipping and handling fees for token redemption, as outlined in the fee schedule. There are zero fees for purchasing XRBG when using USDC, and gold suppliers pay a one-time 5% DaaS (DeFi-as-a-Service) minting fee to XRB DAO for tokenizing their gold supply.
Starting January 1, 2025, XRBG holders can visit the XRB Gold Lookup tool at wallet.xrb.gold to check their gold holdings without having to register for the XRB Gold app. By entering their Ethereum or Polygon wallet address, users can access:
The amount of vaulted gold they own based on the amount of XRBG being held
Estimated market prices for the XRBG being held, quoted in USD, EUR, JPY, CHF, and CNY
Estimated redemption fees for their gold holdings in physical form, stablecoin and fiat based on the amount of XRBG tokens being held.
This information is available simply by providing an Ethereum or Polygon address containing XRBG tokens.
XRBG appeals to a wide range of investors and traders—retail and institutional alike—both within and outside the crypto-asset ecosystem.
Bitcoin enthusiasts often appreciate gold for its similar attributes: both are decentralized, "outside" assets that aren't tied to any particular government or liability. They're scarce, borderless, and universally recognized. We anticipate that many Bitcoin holders and traders will find XRBG an attractive option—a familiar yet safer and less volatile alternative to digital assets like Bitcoin.
For those interested in physical gold investments globally, XRBG offers a compelling proposition: no storage fees, proof-of-ownership for high-quality, vaulted, and insured gold, and high accessibility. This may appeal to traditional gold holders looking to transition their holdings. XRB DAO's business model—charging minting fees to gold suppliers for their DeFi-as-a-Service (DaaS) and redemption fees—eliminates the need for storage or peer-to-peer transaction fees.
Lastly, we foresee lending and borrowing against gold as a major use case. Crypto lending platforms are likely to adopt XRBG, potentially allowing users to earn interest on their holdings. This feature should prove particularly attractive to existing gold holders.
